Unless you notice the “Xtra” on Henry’s hat, or the distinctive red Airo power brush, there are no external visual clues to give away the fact this is the Henry Xtra and not the “basic” Henry.

And let’s quickly point out that the “basic” Henry is an amazing vacuum cleaner and more advanced in terms of performance than any other brand that I’ve used…

But back to the Henry Xtra. The Xtra HVX-200-22 is everything that the Henry HVR200A is, but with some notable additions.

The Henry Xtra has a 3 stage Microfresh filter system which Numatic claims “enhances filtration standards to 98%”. This consists of 2 Tritex filters sandwiching between them an activated charcoal filter membrane. This makes a big difference when it comes to controlling odours and should be of interest to pet owners.

It does seem that Numatic are targeting this Henry variant at pet owners because the other big difference is the Airo power brush which should be particularly useful for getting animal hair off the carpet.

I’ve found that the Henry HVR200A is all I’ve ever needed from a vacuum cleaner in terms of it being long-lasting and doing the job it’s supposed to do well; extremely well. If you don’t have special needs like pets then this should do you fine. If you do have pets then the Henry Xtra is worth checking out.

A frequent question is, “what is the difference between the Henry vacuum and the Hetty vacuum?”

Just to clarify, by Henry we’re talking about the HVR200A vacuum, most commonly seen as the red Henry, but also available in blue, green and yellow, and by Hetty we mean the pink HET200A, both made by Numatic.Quite simply, apart from the colour, there is NO DIFFERENCE. Both vacuum cleaners have exactly the same specification.

Both have powerful two stage motors with two settings: 1200W or 600W, giving them truly excellent suction. In fact, it’s not just the power, it’s something to do with the design of Henry and Hetty. Their sucking power is better than more powerful machines. Henry is the best vacuum I’ve had. Lasted for years and still as good as new. Hetty is the same machine in a different colour.

Hetty has all the features and build quality of Henry because she is, essentially, Henry dressed up as a woman!

Heny vacuum cleaners are excellent, period. It follows that Hetty vacuum cleaners are excellent too.

Henry vacuum is, for many, synonymous with a particular style of vacuum cleaner manufactured by Numatic. In fact, Henry is just one of several vacuum cleaners in the range.

The Henry vacuum cleaner is probably the most recognisable, best known in his red and black colours with his appealing smiling face. As well as red, Henry is also available in blue, green and yellow. There are actually 4 Henry models. The standard Henry HVR200A, the Henry Xtra HVX-200-22, the Henry Micro HVR200M-22 and the Henry Turbo HVR200T-2.

The other “Henry style”‘ Numatic vacuum cleaners are:

Hetty HET200A

James JVP180

Charles CVC370-2

George GVE370-2

There are also two spray mops in Henry and Hetta colours.

Numatic makes many other cleaning machines but this site is dedicated to the “Henry family”.

Numatic vacuums are renowned for being hard-wearing and efficient and this is due to the rigorous testing that goes into the design of all Numatic vacuum cleaners.

I’ve tried most of the big vacuum cleaner brands and have had many vacuums over the years. The only one that has lasted considerably (years) longer than any of the others is my Numatic Henry. I can say without hesitation that the reputation for designing quality vacuum cleaners is well deserved by Numatic.

This site is dedicated to Henry the red vacuum cleaner and his colourful friends. Although of course we mustn’t forget that Henry is also available in blue, green and yellow…

Numatic Henry vacuum cleaners are renowned for their excellent build quality and their amazing suction.

I’ve had a henry vacuum for about 5 years and it’s working as well as the day I got it. It’s even survived falls down the stairs without a scratch thanks to the tough plastic build and metal hose sections.

Most other vacuums I’ve had have broken very quickly and none has equalled the sucking power of my red Henry vacuum.

What I love about my Henry vacuum is the rugged build quality and the simplicity of use. There are no fiddly parts to snap off and no springs to jump out. Henry is made of a few large, tough parts which fit together perfectly. There are no unnecessary gimmicks. You wind Henry’s cable in by hand with a handle on top. I’ve found that the automatic cable winders on other vacuums break. Every time.

Henry vacuum cleaners come with a variety of accessories, as well made as Henry himself. Henry looks good and quite simply, does the job he’s supposed to do, quietly, efficiently and reliably. He’s the only vacuum cleaner I would use and heartily recommend.
